Bi-yearly Model Theory Meetings in the Iberian Peninsula
The Iberian Model Theory Meetings are (bi-)annual events aimed at researchers working in model theory and
related areas in the Iberian Peninsula. IMT Meetings are designed for promoting and sharing current trends of research in our local model theory community.
They also foster research collaboration and will be held in various locations of the Iberian Peninsula.

The second IMTM occured on September 11th, 2026 at the Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea in Leioa (Bilbao). The meeting took place on the Campus of Leioa. It was an even greater success than the first one, as attested by the picture.
The entrance to the building of the Mathematics Department is here (google maps link). The talks will occur in the Seminario/Mintegia room.

Title: On the elementary theory of graph products of groups.
Abstract: When studying the model theory of groups, it is natural to ask which group-theoretic constructions preserve the elementary theory. In 1959, Feferman and Vaught studied the first-order properties of direct products and showed, in particular, that the direct products of elementarily equivalent groups are elementarily equivalent. In contrast, invariance of the elementary equivalence under free products of groups was a long-standing conjecture which was recently solved by Sela (2017).
In this talk, we will first address the converse question: given two elementary equivalent free products of groups (or more generally, graph product of groups), when are the factors elementarily equivalent? We discuss some sufficient conditions and use our results to describe finitely generated groups elementarily equivalent to RAAGs whose underlying graph is a transitive forest.
- (Marcos Giron, UCM) Title: Stable semilinear sets in ordered vector spaces
Abstract: Since its conception, stability theory has played a crucial role in model theory. However, many structures of interest lie beyond the stable context, such as all ordered structures and, in particular, o-minimal structures. Recent developments in generalized stability theory have narrowed this gap by adapting techniques from stability to broader contexts, and a natural way of contributing to this field is to understand the local stability of certain unstable theories. In this talk I will present a classification result concerning the stability of the definable sets in the o-minimal framework of ordered vector spaces over an ordered field, namely, semilinear sets.

Title: Conic o-minimal sheaves: characterizations and stability under the operations
Abstract: Following the sub-analytic case, we introduce, in any o-minimal expansion of a real closed field, the conic o-minimal sheaves on a definable set equipped with a continuous definable action of the multiplicative group of positive elements in the field. Using the conic o-minimal spectrum we describe the category of conic o-minimal sheaves, the derived category of conic o-minimal sheaves and give characterizations of objects of these categories. Furthermore, we show stability of conic o-minimal sheaves under the o-minimal six Grothendieck operations. (Joint work with Duarte Costa and Luca Prelli).

- Reaching the campus:
For the precision, this campus is not in the city centre of Bilbao but indeed in Leioa: link.
To get there from the city centre, the easiest way is by bus from Bilbao San Mames "Termibus", via the bus 2318 (every 20 minutes, fast). From the airport, you can either reach the city center (Termibus) by bus and then use the 2318. Another option is by taxi directly, which is quite fast.
There is also the third option of being picked up by the locals by car, if you need so, contact Christian directly.
- Accommodation: We advertise that a good area for accomodation is around San Mames, at the same time close to the city center and close to the Termibus. That way, you could easily come to the campus. Let us know if you need help.

IMTM I: January 23rd, 2026

The very first IMT meeting occurred on January 23rd, 2026 and was held at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM).
The meeting was a great success, as attested by the lunch picture.
